About Jeanne Juhos
Art is an activity I've enjoyed ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon; yet when it was time
to decide on a career, teaching seemed to be the best choice. Now that my children are adults and I've
retired after a long career of teaching in the upper elementary grades, I have more time to pursue my
interest in art.
I paint in oil, acrylic, colored pencil, and watercolor. Although much of what I do is self-taught,
I enjoy participating in classes and workshops to improve my skills and spend time with artists.
Nature is often an inspiration for my paintings. As an avid bird watcher and nature enthusiast,
I usually take my camera whenever walking or spending time in nature. There is always the hope
that conditions will allow my camera to capture a moment of the beauty of nature.
To look at any thing,
If you would know that thing,
You must look at it long:
To look at this green and say,
"I have seen spring in these
Woods," will not do - you must
Be the thing you see:
You must be the dark snakes of
Stems and ferny plumes of leaves,
You must enter in
to the small silences between
The leaves,
You must take your time
And touch the very peace
They issue from.
