Art is an activity I've enjoyed ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon; yet when it was time to decide on a career, teaching seemed to be the best choice. Now that my children are adults and I've retired after a long career of teaching in the upper elementary grades, I have more time to pursue my interest in art. I paint in oil, acrylic, colored pencil, and watercolor. Although much of what I do is self-taught, I enjoy participating in classes and workshops to improve my skills and spend time with artists. Nature is often an inspiration for my paintings. As an avid bird watcher and nature enthusiast, I usually take my camera whenever walking or spending time in nature.
