Wood Storks, like many birds, are listed as threatened or endangered due to loss of habitat and other factors. The adults have a bald, leathery head and neck. The juvenile has grayish brown feathers on its head and neck. To me, these homely, prehistoric-looking birds have an awkward grace and a beauty all their own.
About Jeanne Juhos
Art is an activity I've enjoyed ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon; yet when it was time to decide on a career, teaching seemed to be the best choice. Now that my children are adults and I've retired after a long career of teaching in the upper elementary grades, I have more time to pursue my interest in art. I paint in oil, acrylic, colored pencil, and watercolor. Although much of what I do is self-taught, I enjoy participating in classes and workshops to improve my skills and spend time with artists. AH! I LOVE this!!! You love colors just like I do :) they are happy and beautiful! I wish I could paint. maybe one day I'll try. I am so used to colored pens and markers and ink. I did one painting with my paints. a couple of years ago. and I used my fingers instead of brushes :) and stuck it in the hall. lol :)
